Words are incredibly powerful. God created the world with them. From the very beginning,

Genesis 1:3 God said ‘let there be light,’ and there was light.

He spoke the world into existence and has been singing over His creation ever since the moment He breathed life into our nostrils. He continually calls us home through the hopeful message of the gospel.

On top of that, God has freely given us His word and the Word. The Creator has revealed himself to us through his perfect, infallible Bible. He has kept his promises, making a way for restoration and redemption through His Son, the Word, after we destroyed paradise and chose foolishness.

As the evangelist of John points us back to Genesis, he says,

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

And later,

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us …

Even after generations and generations of disobedience and rejection, God loved us enough to sacrifice His only begotten son. Jesus Christ willingly stepped down from his heavenly throne to take our place on that rugged cross, absorbing every last drop of the cup of God’s wrath, crying out what should have been our words, but never were or will be.

Matthew 27:46 ‘Eli Eli, lema sabachthani?’ ‘My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?’

God defeated death and crushed sin in the resurrection so that we may have new life in Him. Nick and I believe this truth with everything we are. We hope to use our words wisely and we pray this blog will serve as a tool to encourage, inspire, and stir hearts for Jesus.
